<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To scan by using a connected interface at idle automatically for capturing an image with a scanner part during print processing, through an arbitrary interface by connecting the host and a plurality of interfaces, in a multifunctional printer which concurrently has the functions of facsimile, copying machine and printer with the plurality of interfaces (parallel, USB, IEEE1394 or the like). <P>SOLUTION: The multifunctional printer is connected to a host through the plurality of interfaces (parallel, USB, IEEE1394 or the like) capable of two-way communications with the host.
