<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emission control device of a diesel engine capable of treating SPM and NOX, or SPM and NOX and HC as well at the same time. <P>SOLUTION: In the emission control device, zeolite of Cu cation or the one mixed with hydrophobic zeolite is disposed between electrodes 2 in such a way that ventilation is possible. The emission control device has a power source capable of applying both a DC voltage sufficient for generating electrostatic adsorption of powders in the electrodes 2 and an AC voltage sufficient for generating plasma in the electrodes 2. The AC voltage is applied after the DC voltage is applied. SPM is caught by application of the DC voltage, and SPM and NOX are resolved by the generation of plasma. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
