PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strand of carbon fibers usable in pultrusion, etc., excellent in adhesion to a matrix resin, and excellent in molding property of a composite material in an industrial scale by taking into consideration for prevention of troubles in molding. SOLUTION: The sized strand of carbon fibers has 25-70 of flatness ratio in traveling (ratio of a width/thickness of the strand), after subjecting to a roller processing at 5 m/min, under 200 gf of tension and has 100-160% of a coefficient of variation of spreading under tension which is a ratio of a width under tension after subjecting to the roller processing at 5 m/min under 2 kgf of tension and the width of the strand in the prescribed traveling.
