<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an optical device which is excellent in expediency and a technique for stable manufacturing a high performance optical device. <P>SOLUTION: After a single crystal film which constitutes a Faraday rotator 224b and is capable of exhibiting a substantially rectangular magnetic hysteresis is obtained, the single crystal film is magnetized while incorporated in an optical device such as an optical isolator 224.
