PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing a ripple in a DC voltage level under digital control of operation of a width modulation pulse train using low pass filter without a decrease of resolution or demand of high clock frequency. SOLUTION: In the method and the device, in which a pulse train in proportion to a prescribed value V is generated at an average level in a control system having a clock rage C, the prescribed value V has a possible value at intervals of N, and the pulse is referred to a prescribed low pass process. The method includes a step of generating a pulse train with a constant amplitude. Each pulse width is an integer multiple of clock frequency 1/C, and all the pulse widths are not necessarily equal.
