PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor driven drain valve with new structure wherein the work of handling or mounting is facilitated, and the mounting space is secured in an apparatus main body such as a washing machine because it is compact as a whole. SOLUTION: A movable valve element 24 is reciprocably movably arranged in the axial direction in a cylindrical valve housing 14, the rotation driving force of an electric motor 16 fixedly mounted to the valve housing 14 is converted to the linear motion by motion converting means 20, 22. The force is transmitted to a driven member 22 arranged in the movable valve element 24. The movable valve element 24 is driven in the axial direction of the valve housing 14 against energizing force by an energizing means 152. The movable valve element 24 performs returning operation by utilizing a clutch means 60 arranged on a transmission passage of the rotation driving force which exerts rotation driving force to the motion converting means 20, 22 from the electric motor 16.
