METHOD FOR PROCESSING MEASUREMENT AND REPORT BETWEEN RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES

PURPOSE: A method for processing measurement and report between radio access technologies is provided to divide a work load for measuring RAT(Radio Access Technology) between a UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)-RRC and an RR/GRR. CONSTITUTION: A UTRAN(UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network) transmits a measurement control message to a URRC(UMTS Radio Resource Control)(100). The URRC selects GSM(Global System for Mobile communication) cell information from the measurement control message, and sends a GSM measurement requesting message to an RR(Radio Resource)/GRR(GPRS Radio Resource) according to a report mode, report reference, and the quantity of the measurement(102). The RR/GRR sends a measurement request message to a GSM/GPRS(General Packet Radio Service)-PHY(104). The GSM/GPRS-PHY measures GSM cells for updating the measurement result, and transmits a measurement indicator message to the RR/GRR(106). The RR/GRR receives the measurement indicator message and transmits a GSM measurement indicator message(108). The URRC transmits a measurement report message to the UTRAN(110).
