PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress head wear while securing head contact. SOLUTION: Of upper and lower tape sliding surfaces 12b and 12c which are formed via a pair of upper and lower grooves 14, 15 on both upper and lower sides of a center tape sliding surface 12a having a magnetic gap 13, the upper tape sliding surface 12b brought into contact with a magnetic tape 21 before the center tape sliding surface 12a is made thicker, and the lower tape sliding surface 12c brought into contact with the magnetic tape 21 after the center tape sliding surface 12a is made thinner.
