PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an insecticide having a new molecular structure, having extremely excellent insecticidal activity on various kinds of harmful insects and being supposed to be different in action from commercial insecticides. SOLUTION: The present invention provides an N-heteroaryl-4-(trifluoromethyl) nicotinamide derivative represented by general formula (I) [wherein R is a 1-6C haloalkyl group; R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group which may be substituted, a 2-6C alkenyl group or an acyl group; X is a group represented by the formula C-R<SP>2</SP>or a nitrogen atom; R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group which may be substituted, a 3-7C cycloalkyl group, a 2-6C alkenyl group, a 3-7C cycloalkenyl group, a formyl group, a group represented by the formula CH=NOR<SP>4</SP>, a cyano group, a phenyl group which may be substituted, a heterocyclic group which may be substituted, a 1-6C alkoxy group which may be substituted, a 1-6C alkylthio group or a phenoxy group which may be substituted] or its salt, an agrochemical containing the nicotinamide derivative or its salt, an agrochemical containing the derivative or its salt as an active ingredient, and a method for producing the nicotinamide derivative or its sale, and an intermediate thereof.
