PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of production for 4,4'-dihydroxy-diphenyl ethers in high selectivity and high yield by using a repeatedly usable catalyst in dehydrative dimerization of hydroquinones in a solvent in the presence of the catalyst. SOLUTION: The method of production for 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ethers by dehydrative dimerization of the hydroquinones in the presence of the catalyst in the solvent, repeatedly uses a heteropolyacid and/or its acidic metal salt supported on a carrier as the catalyst.
