PURPOSE: A method for managing multicast groups is provided to rapidly offer a consecutive service to a UE(User Equipment) without unnecessary signaling as an RNC(Radio Network Controller) selectively provides the mobile information of the UE to a core network on the basis of multicast group number information for its own multicast areas, when the UE moves. CONSTITUTION: If a UE moves from a cell to a cell(S1), an RNC confirms whether it is the movement between cells in an identical multicast area(S2). If it is judged that it is the movement between cells in an identical multicast area, the RNC updates multicast group member information and transmits an associated service to the UE(S3). However, in case that it is judged that it is not the movement between cells in an identical multicast area, the RNC confirms whether it is the movement between multicast areas that an identical RNC manages(S4). If so, the RNC confirms whether an identical service is supported and users for the identical service exceed the number required(S5). If the identical service is supported and users for the identical service do not exceed the number required, the RNC confirms whether the QoS between multicast areas or the contents of information are identical(S6). If the QoS between multicast areas or the contents of information are identical, the RNC updates multicast group member information and transmits an associated service to the UE(S3). However, if not, the RNC updates multicast group number information and informs a multicast group management entity that the UE has moved(S7).
