PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a new optical element for optical multiplexing/ demultiplexing, an optical demultiplexing/coupling method, an optical multiplexing method, an optical multiplexing/coupling method and an optical module for optical demultiplexing and optical multiplexing. SOLUTION: The optical element for optical multiplexing/demultiplexing 10 is an optical element which multiplexes and demultiplexes lights having mutually different wavelengths, a transparent plate, on one side of which a diffraction optical lens DL having a positive lens action is formed, and has an optical function with which a parallel luminous flux made incident with an optical axis L0 in parallel is focused on the lens surface of the diffraction optical lens DL at positions separated from the optical axis L0, and separated from one another in the vicinity of the optical axis L0 for respective component wavelengths included in the incident parallel luminous flux.
