PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint lock device enabling only authorized people to do unlocking, while preventing fingerprint recognition rate from being reduced by dirt on a fingerprint sensor, etc. SOLUTION: A sensor part 11 including the fingerprint sensor that acquires users' fingerprint images is so formed as to be removable from an outer unit 10 of the fingerprint lock device. Besides involving the operation of an inner unit, removal of the sensor part 11 is effected when an operator's fingerprint, collated as the operator puts his finger on the sensor part 11, is a registered one, after operation of an operating part 12. The sensor part 11 is also removed when the sensor part 11 cannot normally acquire fingerprint images due to dirt or failure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
