PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an address assignment device and method efficiently assigning an I/O address space in a large scale computer system. SOLUTION: The address assignment device for assigning an I/O address space of a large scale computer system comprises base address register setting means for setting base address registers to assign each PCI device each subdivided I/O address space as a subdivision of an I/O address space, and assign an I/O address space of each secondary PCI bus the subdivided I/O address spaces in a cross multiplication manner, and routing register setting means for setting routing registers to assign an I/O address space of each primary PCI bus the I/O address space assigned to each secondary PCI bus in a cross multiplication manner.
