摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-speed erasure and uniform erasure of a metal precipitation type display element. SOLUTION: An image is displayed and erased by applying a voltage selectively to respective pixels by row electrodes and column electrodes arranged in matrix and precipitating and dissolving metal. Writing is carried out by address driving such that a write voltage above a threshold voltage which is a precipitation overvoltage is applied selectively to pixels where the metal is precipitated. For the erasure, a high erasure voltage is applied selective to only precipitation pixels of the metal. In concrete, a voltage having the opposite polarity from that in the address driving is applied to the row electrodes and column electrodes and the address driving (erasure scanning) is performed for the erasure.
