摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber array substrate which has high accuracy that can deal with fast large capacity optical communication use and does not damage an optical fiber to be mounted, and to provide a method of manufacturing the optical fiber array substrate which has high production efficiency and is suitable to mass production. SOLUTION: This optical fiber array substrate 11 comprises V-shaped grooves 12 on its upper surface, summit parts 12a with a plane 12b formed on the top constituting a V-shaped groove 12 and side groove portions 13 formed on the outer side of the V-shaped grooves 12. At least a point side of outer heaps 12c and 12d extending from a contact point 12e is formed almost in the same shape as that of a point side of the sumit 12a of the inner heap extending from the contact point 12e with the optical fiber 14. This manufacturing method stretch-forms a preform, wherein at least the point side of the outer heap forming the outer heaps 12c and 12d for fixing the optical fiber 14 after being provided and formed over the area, extending from the contact point with the optical fiber 14 has almost identical shape as that of the point side of the inner heap extending from the contact point with the optical fiber 14.
