The invention relates to a mechanical switching contact for bipolar commutation comprising an insulating support (1), having fixed contacts (4, 5; 6, 7) disposed thereon. Said contacts are switchable by means of a contact carrier (2) which possesses a pivoting arm (2.2 on the free end thereof with a respective conducting contact element (8).
