PURPOSE: An optical recording medium recorded with a label, and an apparatus and a method for recording a label to an optical recording medium are provided to properly dispose groups of recording marks on a partial area of the optical recording medium, thereby enabling users to distinguish data and image areas from each other by the difference of reflectivity between the areas. CONSTITUTION: An optical recording medium recorded with a label includes a data area and an image area. The data area has a variable range to record data. The image area has a variable range to record images. The image area is distinguishable by naked eyes. Information to distinguish the data area from the image area is recorded to a lead-in area of the optical recording medium. Both of the data and image areas have different optical characteristics by differing the number, the kind and the thickness of multi-layered films on a substrate.
