PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microminiature high-efficiency reflecting scale for a reflecting optical encoder which is beneficial to reduction of power consumption. SOLUTION: In a plurality of roof mirrors in which reflecting surfaces 44a, 44b formed by regularly arranging microroof arrays/roof prism arrays are counterposed by specified angles, the reflecting surfaces 44a, 44b arranged in one-dimensional direction are formed on one surface of a translucent board 44c. After a flux of light caused to diverge form a light supply means 31 is reflected by the reflecting surfaces 44a, 44b of a reflector 44, the reflected beams lap mutually on a light receiving surface 41 or at an arbitrary position in its vicinity. The beam caused to diverge from the means 31 which has a plurality of luminous regions is approximately gathered within the surface of the reflector 44, and the flux of light emitted from the means 31 having a spread angle is approximately gathered within the surface 41, and the ray density of the luminous flux on the surface 41 increases.
