PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator used for an efficient air conditioner switchable to an optimum operation mode according to the supplied amount of waste heat and a cooling load. SOLUTION: This refrigerator is the combination of an absorbing refrigerating machine having an evaporator E and a compression refrigerating machine having a compressor M, a first condenser C1 and a second condenser C2 cooled by the outside air or cooling water, and a user side evaporator Ec developing a refrigerating effect. The evaporator E of the absorbing refrigerator comprises a control device exchanging heat with the second condenser C2 of the compression refrigerator, or used commonly with the second condenser C2 and controlling the flow of cooling medium for cooling the first condenser C1. A circuit bypassing the compressor M is provided in the compression refrigerating machine, a check valve V1 or a control valve may be installed in the bypass circuit, and the compressor M may have a high head compressor and a low head compressor.
