PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filler for a clear rubber which comprises wet silica, shows a good handleability when used as the filler for the clear rubber and yields the clear rubber showing excellent transparency and wear resistance. SOLUTION: The filler comprises the wet silica having a specific surface area of 100-250 m<SP>2</SP>/g, a ratio (V/S) of an oil absorption (V; cc/100 g) to the specific surface area (S: m<SP>2</SP>/g) of≥1.05 and an average grain size of 5-10μm. The clear rubber is obtained by compounding 20-50 pts.wt. filler comprising the wet silica with 100 pts.wt. rubber component essentially comprising a butadiene rubber and a solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber. A 2 mm-thick sheet of the clear rubber shows a total light transmittance of≥70%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
