Phneylalkyloxy-phenyl derivatives of formula (I) may be used to treat conditions associated with insulin resistance. A compound of formula (I) where: A is situated in ortho, meta and para positions and is represented by formula A(I) and A(II) where is cyano, when X is 0, and when X is 1 then R is - BRa or SCORa, where O,S, SO or SO2, where Ra represents hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl group is optionally substituted one or more times by Rb represents alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, cyano, -NRcRc, =O, halogen, alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl and Rd represents alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl - BB1Ra where B1 is O when B is S, SO or SO2, or B1 is S, So or SO2 when B is O, and wherein B and Ra are defined as above. Alternatively, R is NRaRa, where each Ra is the same or different, and defined as above. R2 represents alkyl, halogen, aryl, alkylaryl, alknenyl, alkynyl (which may be optionally substituted by Rb as defined above), nitro or cyano, -BRa where B and Ra is defined above. R2 may also: - SO2NRaRf where Rf represents hydrogen, alkylacyl, aryl or alkylaryl, SO2ORa, -OCONRfRa where Rf and Ra are defined, -NRcCOORd, NRcCORa, -CONRcRa, NRcCORa, NRcSO2Rd, NRcCORNaRk (where Rk represents hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl). Ra, Rf, Rc, Rd are defined as above. - Alternatively, T2 is -NRcRa, where Rc and Ra are defined above. R1, R3 and R4 are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cyano, halogen or alkyl, where these groups may be optionally substituted by Rb. n is an integer from 1 to 6, X is an ineger 0 or 1, m is an integer 0 or 1. D is situated in ortho, meta or para positions and represents alkyl, acyl, aryl, alkylaryl, halogen or alkylaryl group is optionally substituted by Rb; - NRcCOORa, -NRcCORa, -NRcRa, -NRcSO2Rd, -NRcCONRaRk, - ORa, -OSO2Rd, -SORd, -SRc, -SO2Rd, -SORd, -SRc, -SO2NRaRf, -SO2ORa, -CONRcRa, -OCONRfRa, where Rc, Ra, Rd, Rf are defined above. D' is situated in ortho, meta or para positions and represents hydrogen, alkyl, acyl, aryl, alkylaryl, halogen, -CN, -NO2, -NRfRb, -ORf, -OSO2Rd where Rf, Rb amd Rd are defined above.
