PURPOSE: A shift fork for a transmission and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to increase the durability, reduce the size and the weight, and reduce the deforming and wearing degree of contact parts of a fork body and a coupling sleeve. CONSTITUTION: A shift fork(1) for a transmission includes a fork body(3) and a wear-resistant layer(31). The fork body has an axial combining part combined to a fork rod; a pair of arm parts(11,13) protruded toward the sides from the outer surface of the axial combining part; and contact parts contacting with a coupling sleeve. The arm part forms a partial ring shape. The contact parts are protruded at each free end portion of the arm parts. The wear-resistant layer is disposed to a surface contacting with the coupling sleeve.
