PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable compression of only the data with high compression effect. SOLUTION: Part of the data to be compressed 4, 5 is compressed in a transmission side device 1 (step S1). Data amount is compared between before and after the compression of the part of the data, and the compression is determined whether to be effectively done (step S2). Since the data to be compressed 4 is non-compressed data, the data amount of the part of the data is reduced after the compression of the part of the data; while since the data to be compressed 5 are compressed data, the data amount of the part of the data will not be reduced but is almost the same as that before the compression. The transmission side device 1 compresses other remaining data constituting the data to be compressed, only when the compression is determined to be effective (step S3). That is to say, although the other remaining non-compressed data of the data to be compressed 4 is compressed, the other remaining data of the data to be compressed 5 will not be compressed.
