PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion apparatus which prevents inadvertent accidents if gasoline is introduced by mistake instead of kerosene. SOLUTION: The combustion apparatus includes a combustion part 7 where kerosene is burnt as fuel, and an oil feed pipe 5 connecting the combustion part 7 to a fixed tank 2 in which the kerosene is temporarily collected. A gasoline detecting means 18 for stopping or inhibiting combustion upon detecting gasoline based on the specific heat of fluid is provided in the fixed tank 2 or the oil feed pipe 5; if gasoline is mistakenly fed instead of kerosene, the gasoline detecting means 18 detects it on the basis of a difference in specific heat between gasoline and kerosene and prevents the use of gasoline, thereby preventing inadvertent accidents to make the apparatus safely usable at all times. Moreover, the apparatus does not require mechanical parts nor artificial parts because it relies on the detection of specific heat, enabling automatic operation to be carried out without the fear of errors for safety.
