PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor having a small particle size, an excellent monodispersibility, and a high luminous intensity and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The production method comprises the steps of: dispersing an aqueous solution containing at least two kinds of elemental ions constituting the phosphor, together with a surfactant, in a dispersion medium to prepare a W/O emulsion; preparing the precursor of the phosphor in liquid drops of the W/O emulsion; and baking the precursor.
