<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording information suitable for recording information to a write-once optical recording medium by setting a recording linear velocity to be very high. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for information recording, the recording layer formed on the substrate of the write once optical recording medium is irradiated with a laser beam whose intensity is modulated to at least recording power (Pw) and first base power (Pb1) to physically and/or chemically change the recording layer, thereby forming recording marks in the prescribed area of the recording layer. The method sets the ratio (Pb1/Pw) of the first base power (Pb1) to the recording power (Pw) to 0.1 to 0.5 and sets the recording linear velocity to 5 m/s or higher to form the recording marks. Thus, recording of data at the recording linear velocity of 5 m/s or higher is realized, and a low output semiconductor laser which is comparatively inexpensive can be used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
