PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of electrodes of a PDP, in which a line width of the electrode can be reduced without increasing the resistance component of the electrode. SOLUTION: A bus electrode is formed by joining and patterning a metallic foil on the substrate, and a transparent electrode is formed on the substrate so as to cover the bus electrode. If the electrode is formed by utilizing the metallic foil in this way, there is no risk of peeling-off even if the metallic electrode is made thicker, and a considerable thickness can be attained. Therefore, the electric resistance of the metallic electrode can be made less even if the line width is not widened. In other words, the electrode can be made as the metallic electrode with a minute width, and if this is applied to a maintaining electrode, brightness is enhanced and furthermore a power consumption of the PDP can be reduced.
