PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber coupler manufacturing method and a device therefor in which a fusion drawing part can be uniformly heated nearly over the entire length, with the fusion state uniformized in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: In this optical fiber coupler manufacturing method, a plurality of optical fibers 1 are arranged in parallel, with the fusion drawing part 2 heated through a solid wall. The heating is performed such that a distance between the fusion drawing part 2 of the optical fiber 1 and the solid wall 3, 4 is made larger in the center of the fusion drawing part and smaller in the end.
