PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting structure for a contact of a connector stably supporting the contact at an insulator by setting clearances between two engaging portions of the contact and two engaging portions of the insulator to be small. SOLUTION: The contact 2 is inserted into the insulator 1. The contact moves upwardly and in the thickness direction by an elastic force of a spring 2D, pressing a top surface 2A3 of a supporting section 2A against a top surface 1A3 of a contact insertion opening 1A, a top surface 2C1 of a terminal section 2C against a bottom surface 1A7 of a protruding section 1A5 of the insulator, the supporting section 2A against a side surface 1A10. Thus the contact has no play against the insulator, even if there is a clearance between a second stopper 2A2 of the contact and a second receiver 1A6 of the protruding section, since the clearance is set to be small.
