PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission, wherein smooth speed change and improvement of the durability of a driving piston are realized. SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission comprises: an input disk 2; an output disk 4; a power roller 11 held between both disks 2 and 4; a trunnion 6 supporting the power roller 11 rotatably; a drive 32 with the driving piston 30 connected to a driving rod 29 mounted in the trunnion 6 and a driving cylinder 31 storing the driving piston 30 displaceably; and an upper side yoke 23a and a lower side yoke 23b supporting axes 5a and 5b of the trunnion 6. The toroidal continuously variable transmission also has a projection part 75 for limiting the inclination of the upper side yoke 23a and the lower side yoke 23b so that the quantity of displacement of the trunnion 6 displaced by the drive 32 is smaller than the maximum quantity of displacement of the driving piston 30 inside the driving cylinder 31.
