The device has a rope-like fastener element (2) passing around an upper suspension point and carbine-like holders (5,7) at the element ends (3), for the rope. One (7) of the holders has a housing (8) with internal clamp mechanism (9) for the fastener, which slides within the housing and is turned to be moved into release and clamping positions relative to the housing. The climbing rope (14) passes over a deflector device (10) fastened to the housing. The device has a textile tape suspension part (11) and a deflector pulley (12). Also fastened to the housing is a locking part (16) with passage (6) for the rope.
