The present invention relates to a method for detection of somatic mutations in samples. The method is based on detection of somatic mutations by means of mass spectrometry, whereby a comparison of complex signal patterns comprising aberrant signals compared to wild type and/or integrals over particular peaks within the spectra is used for assessing the presence or absence of mutations in nucleotide sequences. According to the method disclosed herein a ratio of the signal integrals of a reference peak and a peak to be analysed are built. The peaks employed for the comparison are chosen to allow for a reproducible correlation of the ratios of the integrals to the particular somatic mutation phenotype.
|
