<p>A process is provided by which 3-N-methylamino-1-(2- thienyl)-1-propanols represented by the general formula (I) can be easily prepared in the form of a racemate or an optically active substance (of S- or R-configuration) at a low cost and in a high yield: (I) wherein R1 is hydrogen, C1-8 acyl, substituted or unsubstituted C1-8 alkyloxycarbonyl, or substituted or unsubstituted phenyloxycarbonyl; and R2 is hydrogen, C1-8 alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted benzyl, C1-8 acyl, substituted or unsubstituted C1-8 alkyloxycarbonyl, or substituted or unsubstituted phenyloxycarbonyl, with the proviso that a case wherein R1 is hydrogen and R2 is methyl or hydrogen is excepted.</p> |
