<p>A fibre optic connector (1) for connecting a multicore fibre (2) to a bundle (3) of single core optical fibres (5). The multicore fibre (2) connects to a first GRIN lens (9) with an optical length of 0.25 pitch which is itself connected to a widow of an optical channel (11). The GRIN lens (9) outputs are beams corresponding to the output from each core (3); this output is collimated with angular separation. These separated beams (15) couple into further 0.25 pitch GRIN lenses (14) on a window (13) at the end of the optical channel (11), one lens for each single core fibre. Each single core fibre (5) is connected to one of the GRIN lenses (14). Both the position of the GRIN lenses (14) on the window (13), and the position of the single cores (6 )on the GRIN lenses need to be adjusted to give maximum coupling between the multicore fibre (2) and the bundle (3) of single core fibres.</p> |
