<p>The present invention relates to the finding of a novel therapeutic target which is implicated in regulating glycosaminoglycan (GAG) length, and the use of this target particularly for regulating lipoprotein binding. More particularly the invention relates to the use of this target for methods of treating and preventing conditions associated with lipoprotein binding in tissues or blood vessels. More specifically, the invention resides in the use of the new target as a key biochemical target for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and identifies useful therapeutic agents which may act on the target. Accordingly, in a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of controlling glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chain length in a cell, said method comprising modifying activation of c-Abl in the cell.</p> |
