The present invention relates to a method for preparing optically pure 3-hydroxy-pyrrolidine, more particularly to a novel method for preparing 3-hydroxy-pyrrolidine economically, conveniently and efficiently, by reacting optically active 3,4-epoxy-1-butanol with ammonia and an aldehyde compound to prepare 4-protected-imino-butane-1,3-diol, selectively activating a hydroxy group at C-1 and then converting an imino group to an amine group by acid simultaneously or consecutively and performing intramolecular cyclization in the presence of a base.
