FIELD: metallurgy; production of steels for manufacture of crane booms at cargo-hoisting capacity of up to 50 t mounted on automobile chassis for operation under adverse climatic conditions. SUBSTANCE: proposed steel contains the following components, mass- %: carbon, 0.10-0.16; manganese, 0.5-0.8; silicon, 0.8-1.1; chromium, 0.6-0.9; nickel, 0.5-0.8; copper, 0.4-0.8; molybdenum, 0.10-0.20; vanadium, 0.02-0.07; boron, 0.0010.004; aluminum, 0.02-0.06; calcium, 0.001-0.005; the remainder being iron at the following relationship: V = (0,22-C)/2)±0,01 and Ca = (Al+0,02/20)±0,001, where V is content of vanadium; C is content of carbon; Ca is content os calcium; Al is content of aluminum, mass-%.
