<p>The present invention provides gas control valve (1) including a valve body (2) having a gas inlet (4), a gas outlet (5), and a gas passage (6) between the inlet and outlet, and including a valve control element (3) for controlling the flow of gas between the inlet (4) and the outlet (5). The valve control element (3) includes valve stem (7) having a cam follower in the form of a pin (22) projecting laterally there-from, and a head 8 at one end of the stem (7) bearing an O-ring (9) that is able to seat against an inside wall surface of the body (2) to seal the gas outlet (5). The cam follower pin on the stem (7) engages with a cam surface of the valve body (2). Rotation of the valve control element (3) causes the cam follower pin (22) to co-operate with the cam surface (23) and displace the valve control element (3) to open or close the valve (1). The present invention also provides a gas appliance having one or more gas burners and a gas control including at least one control valve (1) according to the invention.</p> |
