Detecting an analyte (I) by enzymatic reaction comprising treating the sample with a detection reagent (DR) that comprises an enzyme-coenzyme complex (C), under conditions where regeneration of the coenzyme can not occur, and detecting reaction of (I) from a change in (C), is new. An Independent claim is also included for a reagent system for detecting (I) comprising (C) in a form such that the coenzyme can not be regenerated, and a carrier.
