<p>The present invention relates to a cutter arrangement for a grass-mowing machine that includes a chassis (1) which carries a motor (3) from which, in normal use of the machine, a generally vertical drive shaft (3.1) projects down and carries a rotor (4) which includes at least one cutter (5) that has at least one cutting edge (5.3), wherein said at least one cutting edge (5.3) is located beneath the rotor (4) at a distance (d) from its lower edge, wherein respective cutters (5) are pivotal about a pivot shaft that is inclined at an angle (b) to the normal of the horizontal plane through the rotor (4), wherein respective cutters (5) are swung to one side, away from a normal working position, and rearwardly to the rotational direction of the rotor 4 in the event of the machine being driven against an object that projects up from the ground.
