FIELD: wireless communications using code-division multiple access systems. SUBSTANCE: system has load monitoring device such as mobile station connected to data acquisition and processing device such as diagnosing monitor. Load monitoring device is placed within base station coverage area. Load monitoring device periodically initiates call usually assigned to traffic channel and records power control parameter such as transmission power of mobile station or a number of closed-loop power control commands received per time unit. This information is used by load control device to make real-time conclusion about traffic load condition in base station. If system load exceeds predetermined threshold, warning signals can be sent to system control center so as to take measures for limiting base station load.
