FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, production of porous metal body. SUBSTANCE: ingoing metal material is held under low pressure within the range from 13.33 Pa to 0.000133 Pa over the range of temperature being by 50-200 C lower than melting temperature of this metal. Ingoing metal material is melt under high pressure within the range from 0.1 to 10 MPa, which is achieved owing to introduction of at least one kind of gas selected out of the group containing hydrogen, nitrogen, argon and helium. Molten metal is poured into mold, in so doing gas pressure above molten metal and temperature of molten metal are being controlled. In mold inside of tight vessel for forming porous metal body molten metal is cooled and solidified. This method allows new composite material with perfect characteristics to be produced because of filling its porous portions with another material. EFFECT: thanks to unique structure and excellent characteristics this material can be used in different fields of industry, namely: as material for hydrogen storage, electromagnetic screening, medical instruments. 4 cl, 27 dwg, 6 ex
