FIELD: electrical and electromechanical engineering; miscellaneous drives. SUBSTANCE: orbital rotor fan designed for use in drives of machine-tool, building, material handling, and farming equipment as well as domestic appliances built around induction motors rated up to 10 kW and characterized in shaft axis elevation between 71 and 112 mm has small-size cylindrical rotor and member securing it on main-motor rotor; the latter is provided with end rings and rotor blades. Novelty is that orbital fan rotor shaft is made in the form of vertical section of U- shaped clamp entering bore in end ring of main-motor rotor; clamp fastening member is made in the form of sprocket engageable with horizontal section of clamp and main-motor rotor blade; sprocket has central bore to pass main-motor rotor shaft and is held thereon by means of bearing. When motor is running under rated conditions, orbital rotor fan agitates air and augments heat transfer from stator end windings. Temperature reduction level depends on number and size of orbital rotor fans installed therein. EFFECT: improved thermal conditions of motors running at frequent starts and load surges causing reduced speed and, hence, impaired cooling. 1 cl, 1 dwg
