A method for producing aluminum nitride which comprises preparing a slurry containing pseudo-boemite and carbon, filtrating the slurry followed by dehydration, to form a precursor, and firing the precursor in an atmosphere containing nitrogen. The slurry is preferably prepared by dispersing a carbon powder in an aqueous solution having a pH adjusted to 8.5 to 9.5, and then synthesizing pseudo-boemite by the use of at least one of an aluminum salt and aluminic acid as an aluminum source, while maintaining the pH of the reaction mixture at 8.5 to 9.5. The aluminum nitrite produced by the method has a three-dimensional network structure and thus exhibits excellent heat-conducting property and can be suitably used as a filler for an electronic material.
|
