<p>Medicinal compositions for treating acute leukemia whereby the interaction between fibronectin and VLA4 is inhibited by using a VLA4 antagonist to thereby regulate the acquisition of cell adhesion-depending anticancer agent-tolerance by leukemic cells; a method of treating and/or preventing acute leukemia using these compositions; and a method of diagnosing acute leukemia based on the VLA4 expression ratio in acute leukemic cells.</p>
