A photoluminescence analysis apparatus suitable for high throughput rates of chemical and biological material samples, comprises a multiple sample carrier (26), an illumination source (10), an optical system (18) for providing a high intensity, homogeneous slit image at the sample, a detector (30) providing multiple individual sensors, a processor unit (36) for statistical evaluation of measurements. An Independent claims is also included for analytical procedures using the apparatus.
