The invention relates to a method and a device for carrying out a method for the heat treatment of metallic workpieces at high temperatures in a calcining furnace, whereby the metallic workpiece is exposed to the effect of a gas or gas mixture which contains carbon. The average carbon potential in the atmosphere of the calcining furnace is below or corresponds to the carbon-black limit. The invention is characterised in that the gas or gas mixture which contains carbon contains acetylene. The components which contain carbon are added to the gas or gas mixture in a preferably pulsated manner. |
