The present invention provides a method for preventing or treating a T cell mediated inflammatory/autoimmune disease or disorder in a subject having a glucocorticoid regulation deficiency, where the method comprises administeri ng to a subject in need of such treatment a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor. The Cox -2 inhibitor may be administered in combination with a glucocorticoid. The Cox- 2 inhibitor can be a Cox-2 selective inhibitor. Compositions, pharmaceutical compositions and kits are provided for carrying out the method.
