A pressing machine adapted to be reciprocated between a lower support block and an upper support block by a drive source and having a slide plate that h as a forming space defined between itself and the lower support block. In this pressing machine, a reference plate providing a displacement reference for t he slide plate is supported by the lower support block. The drive source engage s the slide plate by a drive shaft to drivingly press the slide plate. The dri ve shaft is formed with a through hole extending through the axis thereof, and a displacement measuring means measures, through the through hole, the displacement of the slide plate portion corresponding to the through hole, relative to the reference plate. Thus, the displacement at a pressing point on the slide plate can be measured.
